Evelyn Hsu is director of programs for the Maynard Institute. Previously, she was a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle and The Washington Post, associate director at the American Press Institute, and member of the faculty at the Poynter Institute. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and of the Maynard Institute's Summer Program for Minority Journalists. She is a past AAJA national president and was a key organizer of the first UNITY conference. She has served on the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, the board of the Student Press Law Center, and the Youth Services Committee of the Newspaper Association of America.
